My name is Erika Aguilar. I'm a public radio reporter, producer and anchor in San Francisco.
My passion is audio storytelling. I love complicated characters and lively scenes. I'm drawn to topics such as food, housing and public policy that demonstrate the growing pains of a changing and diversifying community.
I've spent 10 years as a beat reporter filing spot news, features and covering major breaking news stories for KQED 88.5-FM in San Francisco, KPCC 89.3-FM in Los Angeles and KUT 90.5-FM in Austin. I reported on the ground during the 2015 San Bernardino shooting in Southern California and 2009 Fort Hood shooting Texas. I also worked a short stint at the CBS TV news affiliate in Austin.
My current fascinations include developing new, audio storytelling formats and live journalism events.
I'm from San Antonio, Texas (Go Spurs Go!). I sing in my car and am constantly searching for a solid carne guisada recipe.
